"Now Maria felt blessed just to listen / to that cascade of notes sweet and long / as her offerings was lifted to heaven / by the very first nightingale's song."–The Gift, a Christmas song I've heard four times in 24 hours on KOOL108...it's very pretty in some versions
"And so it is / just like you said it would be / life goes easy on me / most of the time"–Damien Rice, The Blower's Daughter
"So this is CHRISTMAS..."–Rob, at my new job, his favorite one-line lyric to sing...all the time! hahaha
So this is CHRISTMAS
time 12:38 am feeling so wide awake! ("I wonder WHY?!" Jeff asks, hahaha)
wearing jeans, Gophs sweatshirt reading
The Lovely Bones, again...what is my problem, seriously man?! ready for well, I'm pretty happy right now next ?
Oh it's so late! I can't believe I am still up! I am pretty impressed, I think I should get some kind of award. Or at least a cookie, anyway.
First of all, I know I owe several people an email, so I am sorry that I am updating instead of emailing. But I spent almost 60 hours at work last week (including our party, which is TBD [To Be Discussed] later here) and was just swamped, so please afford me a break. I will give you one, too (haha). So, to Katy, Mom, Maggie, etc., SORRY! I will get back to you soon (Mon or Tues).
So I am just here hanging out with Jeffrey, aka watching him kill people/steal stuff in GTA5. Wow my kids will never play this game, then again by then it won't exist, or we might all be dead, or something. So let's not get ahead of ourselves (my specialty). It has been a very fun day, we made Christmas cookies (well, sliced + baked, anyway) and decorated and ate them, did some Tae Bo (yah!), and now we are just 'hanging out' as I said. It's like my favorite thing in case you didn't know, to just hang out.
And then he suggested that I update, for my 'loyal fans' are waning. That, combined with my power three hour nap this afternoon, means that this will be my latest-written update in awhile. Heck, it'll be my first update in awhile, anyway! So be it. "That's very kind of you," GTA-man says as he steals guns from his murder victims. (It really is a terribly violent game.)
So, okay, since being pissed/disappointed/mortified at the outcome of the election, what have I been up to? Well I think you may have noticed a few paragraphs back that I mentioned being at work for close to 60 hours last week. "Work?" you may ask. "But Lexi, you are unemployed. How can you have a job which to attend? What is this?" Well good news folks, I do have a job. And it's pretty dang sweet if you ask me. I am working for Olive and Company, a small place in NE Mpls, and it is pretty awesome so far. I am the Flash Princess/Slave (take your pick) so far, so I am happy as a clam (that is, as long as I am getting it to work, which is about 85 percent of the time. The other 15 percent, I am an idiot that Flash takes and destroys. But alas.). The second day I was there they ordered office supplies and when they came in there was a giant box of twizzlers in with the shipment, plus chocolate as a thank you. At that point I decided I was in heaven. From then on it's been lovely, with some hilarious co-workers (albeit strange, but, as Uncle Glenn [Glen for short] said last night, "you creative types are all a little strange.") and some cool Flash work. And, most importantly, a regular paycheck that keeps me off the streets (hah!).
Yeah man. Oh yeah big news as well, my cousin Christie is engaged. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!! I am SO excited. She lives right here too, so it's like another way to trick the whole extended family into hanging out in MPLS. Soon, they will ALL live here, I just know it, bwahaha, and my Plan will be complete. But I digress. Anyway, I am incredibly excited for her + Mike, they are just great together and he cracks me up. Plus, Christie is fulfilling another prophecy, that of marrying people named Mike! I am very proud. Go Christie go.
Oh YEAH I ALSO went to San Francisco a few weeks ago for TG! How cool is that?! Steph invited us ALL (and I mean ALL; Jeff came and then Jenny's Matt met us in SF [he goes to Stanford] as well) out there and entertained and wined and dined and loved us all weekend long. It was absolutely wonderful. We have so many good pics, but that will have to wait. THANK YOU STEPHIE! And thank you Parents for getting us out there :).
"Whoa this is a long update," Jeff says. "But then again you owe it to your fans. The last we heard was that you were mad about the election-"*sneeze*. Thank you Jeff for that kindly little insight. OK. What else. Oh yeah so last night was my work party and that was so cool! They had been planning this big schmooze/showoff party (pretty much, but also have a good time/get drunk [no I did not]) since before I got there, and my oh my did I feel fancy for getting to be the partial hostess of such an affair. Oh yeah. My aunt Barb and uncle Glenn and Christie came, as well as Diana and Susan. It was so nice to have people there, and so cool that they hung out with me! Diana was basically my date for the evening as well, so... Glenn just cracks me up. He is so funny! He would be a fun co worker, alas he is an engineer...I think secretly he just wants to be like my Dad, they are kind of twins of funniness I think. So yeah, we had that fancy party, chocolate martinis included (and a clueless bartender, oh well), then D and I headed out to ANOTHER design party, the senior show, where I saw some of the True Ten, plus Brigette, Angelina, Heidi, Andy, Rich, Peter, and Susan again (of course). So that was nice to reconnect. THEN I saw Sarah (Komomua)'s brother Chris and so we went and chatted with him and his friends! I guess if I can't hang out with Sarah I can at least hang out with her brother...what?
OH yeah we also saw the movie "Closer" which we both loved although I would hesitate to recommend it to just anyone, I think most people I know in fact would not like it/be offended by it. So, despite me liking it, don't see it. Or think long and hard before you do. It was very intense (perhaps why I liked it).
Jeff's bday is on Monday yay! I am very excited. Part of his bday/Christmas I paid for part of a gym membership for him, so that is already in effect. We went together on Friday. It is very cool to be able to work out w/ him despite the cold (before we would run). BUT I am still excited for his true bday, we will celebraaate!
OK that's it. I'm out. Happy Christmastime!!
