"...Long as you keep 'em way off balance
How can they spot you got no talents? / Razzle dazzle 'em / Razzle dazzle 'em / Razzle dazzle 'em / And they'll make you a star!" ---Razzle Dazzle, Chicago

time 10:01 pm feeling overstimulated, aaah! reading ? wearing LEIs, fleece music CHICAGO CD! ready for spring break! next test, movie day, Mom comes to get me, go home, go to spring break! YEAH.
Update? Or write paper? Update? Or write paper? It's a dilemma, and one that you can see I have now resolved. I'll probably kick myself later but oh well, WCYD (What Can You Do). Time wasting measures seem to trap me as we approach a break in routine of some sort.
BREAK! That's what I'm excited about! Break, break, break. My mom is kind enough to come get me today (since I, um, did something really bad to the car), thank God for that. I am so lucky that she will do that for me! Thanks Mom! And then I get to be home for a little bit, and THEN...dun dun dah! SPRING BREAK! YEAH!!! We are going to have a great time, there is nothing like spending a whole 11 days with Matt, and in the Caribbean no less!
I also have a test today, which is another thing I should be doing instead of updating–studying. Whoops. Well I have like an hour. Plus you're not supposed to study right before a test, right?
So let's see, the quote and the title. Well I really like the Chicago CD in case you couldn't tell, and the movie as well, I can't wait for the DVD! I can watch the dances over and over. I've already started making up a floor routine to one of the soundtrack songs and let me tell you, I don't know if I should do that or 'Hell' for my music next year. What do you think? YOU BE THE JUDGE.
Anyway, Razzle Dazzle. Well it's my belief that in many way, design is a load of crap. Because, you can turn in stupid stuff and if you have the right amount of knowledge, attitude, and smarts, you can get people to believe that it is NOT crap and rather something good. Is that sad? Or am I too cynical? Both, more likely. But my point is, sometimes you can turn on some personality, or rather 'turn on your love light' as Grateful Dead might say, to make up for your lack of talent. An interesting yet sobering thought. As I've noticed this semester, my classmates are SO PASSIONATE about design. It's freaking me out man. Because I like it, and the work is fun, but I don't get all excited about it; I just want to get the work done, and fast. There have been a few projects in the past wherein I've enjoyed it so greatly I've taken more time than absolutely necessary to work on it, but not this constant excitement my classmates seem to share. Maybe it's because I'm one of the four youngest...or maybe I'm just efficient. OR maybe I lack passion! But that's OK, because I'm pretty passionate about gymnastics, so I can excuse myself with that ;).
AND lucky 13. Well it's not quite Friday the 13th but it'll do. So yesterday at practice Erin hurt her neck doing a timer off vault. She's okay, just sprained it, but that was pretty dang scary, and makes me so grateful for my current good health. It's so important to remember how lucky I am to have a whole, working, healthy body. Whether I'm pulling myself through the water at the pool, pushing myself to run another mile, dancing alone in my apartment, or, of course, doing gymnastics, I just am so, so fortunate to be able to use my body in these ways. It amazes me how often we take our physical health for granted; I feel that it's part of what has led to the decline in the health of our country over the past years. Society puts so much emphasis these days on developing your mental, emotional, intellectual self, and this is a good thing, by far! Yet we lack the attention to the body. "Strong minds, strong bodies" is the basis of the YMCA, from the 1890s on, and perhaps slowly we can get society to start rebuilding this. It's hard to have one without the other.
Anyway I'm waxing poetic about sports. Two KIN classes will do that to you. Point is, I hope Erin feels better soon! I am thinking of you Erin! Other point: be grateful for your health. Appreciate your body.
Whoa, this turned into a really long update! Well at least it distracted me momentarily from my overstimulation due to the quick approach of my fabulous break! Dang, now I have to study/write paper. Have a GREAT break everyone, we're halfway through the semester!!!
