“...I wrote the pain down / Got off and looked up / Looked into your eyes / the lost open windows / all around / My dark heart lit up the skies // And now that I've worn out, I've worn out the world / I'm on my knees in fascination / looking through the night / and the moon's never seen me before / but I'm reflecting light ”

Worn Out The World

time 9:50 Am, I'm waiting for things to export on my MAC...aah! feeling exhausted wearing brit's shirt...I'm quitting (just kidding) music air conditioner reading state of fear? ready for weekend next dvds

This week has not been pretty. So we'll skip it.

Last weekend Jenny came to visit and it was a blast. It was seriously a perfect weekend from start to finish. Friday after her plane landed she hauled herself up here via the light rail as I was attending Jackie's baby shower, which, needless to say, was a smashing success. Our 'activity' was the bomb and a wonderful time was had by all.

After finally getting TO Jenny after having to fight traffic from SLP back to MPLS (WHY and HOW do people LIVE so far away??!! And SLP isn't even that far!!!), the fun with JJ began. After finding out that she had basically walked all the way to my apartment from DT, we got her settled in, then swung by Art-a-Whirl to check out the goods. After refusing to buy an 'egg poacher' (Jenny: "What happens if you just put an egg in the microwave?" uhh...), finding out how popular Robot Artist Lady really was (she even came in here herself to deliver our new work painting...it is divine indeed), and avoiding a creepy man who forced cranberry 'juice' upon us, it was time for dinner, and while wandering through my delicious new neighborhood, we settled on some good ol' Pizza Nea. It. Was. Delicious indeed. OMG. Jenny tried to pay, she was foiling all my plans, but all went well. We went home and tried to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding again but promptly I fell asleep. So it was bedtime.

After kicking JJ in my sleep and her yelling at me to open the window, it was finally Saturday morning. I was in a sleep trap but eventually broke free and we headed out to get some cold press and walk downtown. Cold press + milk + vanilla = heaven on earth. Yum. We went to Marshall's to return the shoes Jenny had so faithfully bought after arriving in MPLS then, after marveling over how dead DT really is on the weekend days, ran into the giant library opening which was awesome. We had some mediocre street food and then went inside to partake in the festivities. We met Batgirl and got cookies but sadly I had no proof of residence with me so we were not afforded any tote bags. Boo. (However I did join the commuter challenge, which is what I do anyway, so hopefully I'll win...something.)

We caught a bus home for 50¢ and went for a great run. After showers and some apartment-suiting for JJ, drove over to Rainbow to get some tasty goods for our dinner. Needless to say we made the best dinner ever and Jenny proves once again that not only is she a better athlete, but also a better cook than me. Alas, this way I can eat her food. Eggplant + peppers + onions + angelhair + proscioutto + olive oil + basil and tomatoes = perfect. We enjoyed some red wine and chocolate-dipped strawberries and finished the movie, yay, after which our compatriots arrived. Diana, Jeff, Dave, Jenny and I made our way downtown to party it up Jenny-style. It was very nice to be able to walk downtown from my apartment and it further confirms that my neighborhood is the best ever. We went to three different places and a very happy time was had by all. They played SOS twice, which I loved, and I took a bunch of weird pictures that I might post one day.

Finally after attacking Pizza Luce we found a cab across the river and once home I made a batch of cookies. I have no idea why as it was 3 am. Anyway. Jenny snoozed on the couch and I devoured my cookies while watching DC. Ahh how strange that was!

Sunday Jenny tried to kill me by taking me rollerblading. (Yes, she brought her rollerblades on the plane.) Thankfully I survived and it was actually even very fun. My $3 rollerblades and lack of true coordination did not help though. We went on W Rivery Pkwy and across the Stone Arch Bridge and everything. Basically we again concluded that my area rocks the house. I wish she could move here!! Chicago is all right, but the Cities is truly where it's at, for real. We then packed a picnic, went out to Calhoun and then froze since it had cooled off, so got some ice cream at Sebastian Joe's and came home to paint. She gave me one of her paintings and I gave her one of mine. Before I knew it, it was time to take JJ back and we were very sad. But now I have bought my tix to Chi-town in Sept so needless to say we have something to look forward to!

All in all it was an excellent, perfect weekend. Thank Pod too, since this week has been anything but. Bah. At least Diana made me chicken nuggets and glazed carrots! YAY. I am looking for another great weekend now to make up for it. THREE DAYS BABY I love not going anywhere on my three day weekends. (Not that I won't love attending Katy's wedding on Labor Day weekend mind you! I am very excited for that.)

This weekend I have many things I would like to/must do/accomplish:

  1. Figure out my bill situation. I tried to take it all online but I'm not sure how that's working out for me. I need to automate it!
  2. Maybe figure out T-Mobile? (I'm switching, bytchez!)
  3. Crochet a bit, I got some really soft, nice yarn last week.
  4. Get some new white shirts. Jenny and I thought it would work to put bleach in. It didn't. But hey, I can take a hit of shopping every once in awhile, that's fine with me.
  5. Get random crap...TP, Rx, veggies, new shower thing since mine destroyed itself.
  6. Catch up on emails aah!
  7. Lunch w/ AK on Saturday, yay!
  8. Do my part of the Schauer stuff, this I am excited for even though tech'lly it's 'work'.
  9. Bike ride?
  10. It would be really nice to swim or something since it's going to be like 90 degrees for real.

So, pretty good. That's a lot of stuff but that's what a three-day weekend is for, after all! Happy Memorial Day.
