time 8:32 pm feeling upbeat reading a horribly sleazy magazine, I cannot name it wearing Rec Sports shirt, shorts music radio ready for singing! next ?
Sadly I have developed yet another (and you thought it would end!) obsession: I am now obsessed with obtaining a laptop (a Power Mac of course, it's so obvious that it'd just HAVE to be something over 2K). Shit. This is a bad development. My only hope is that it will subside as do the many other obsessions that creep into my life...yeah, right. Or that I win the lottery.
So let's see what I did today at work, just so you get an idea of how completely unproductive the corporate world is, EVEN IF the place wherein you work has this somewhat unhealthy love of perfectionism.
See??? I did about, oh let's see, two hours of honest work. And it's not my fault!! I try to find work to do, seriously, but some days it's just not there at the right times. Oh well. Know that I usually do more than this. Meeting days tend to be the worst.
OK so in other news, I went to my first Madison ballet class tonight. At first I pinned the guy as a complete jackass (what else is new). Later he became better, even if there were two stupid class girls in there (they remind me of Team girls at Badger and how snotty we can be, OH WAIT I myself was a Team girl...damn). The other people were nice; one of them was even Val, Stephanie Barnes' sister! Yeah. The class moves too fast though, in my humble opinion. My MN class, the woman was very, very clear and slow with basics (like WOGA, for you gymnastics people, or in a college basketball sense, like UW-Madison or the Big Ten in general), while this class was fast and dirty (like Parkettes, or the ACC and the Big East). So, you classicists will understand my displeasure. Oh well. It's what I've got for now, all is well. Then tonight Matt gave me a little 'ballet' lesson, aka him whistling and waving his arms around 'on his points'. HAH. And tomorrow, gymnastics.
In other news, last weekend I went to Rockford for Matty Cordonnier's HS graduation party. This was a good time, and fantastic to see Jessy, Sarah, Matt, Deb, and Mike. I love Jessy so much, she reminds me of me (at only 13 years old, too). They are a great family.
We also went to see Grandma & Grandpa ('LeRoy the Great') for Father's day. This was also a good time, even if I was the only kid there. I learned that my grandparents lived in NEW YORK CITY (while my Grandpa worked on the Manhattan project, another story entirely), I am so serious, and my Grandma worked in Macy's there, at only 19 years old!!! Seriously, I never knew that about them nor would I have believed it. Saturday night (backtracking again) we got to see Danny, same old same old. He can't believe I still have my site. It was quite nice to see him though (and his mom and dad). And last night Matt and I walked to Tutto for dinner, it is so nice to be in downtown Madison. Strangely I saw Kelle Burch from MN on State Street, she was running. Random.
Okay now I am just babbling. I hope you all are well. This weekend = NATIONALS NATIONALS NATIONALS!!! GO ASHLEY POSTELL! I am super excited, Diana gets in Thursday. Now, I swear, that is truly all.

LEXI'S DAY AT WORK, TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2003:
8:03 am - punch in
8:07 am - after checking email, turn on laminator. Decide to walk to cafe with Alicia while she gets coffee. As we are also purchasing a croissant for Kristin LeDuc, figure that it is somewhat work-related enough so as to not feel too guilty about my outside time.
8:28 am - work on Amy K's posters, all the while Marie popping in and out to claim she has work for me to do (she never did have any).
9:30 am - Prospect Brainstorming meeting in Addy. I feel very priviliged to be attending a brainstorming meeting. They feel my input is helpful as I am young and played with the Pleasant Company dolls when I was younGER. This si where they find out (a) I am obsessed with their products and know more than they could ever guess (b) while I have the legal age of 21 and the appearance of a 16-year-old, I really have the complete mind of a child. Oh, well. Hopefully they won't bring me milk and cookies and a blanket for naptime.
10:45 am - find pictures for Amy B. Tried to stretch this out immensely to avoid downtime. Also listen to music.
11:54 am - long lunch outside with Alicia and Marie. I hear how Alicia's husband is Canadian but they met in Guatemala. Incidentally, Alicia is from Door County Cherry Land. Marie again claims she has work for me to do (she again never has any).
12:32 pm - waste time before meetings as all my superiors are still at lunch and I have finished all my work for the time being. Avoid temptations to visit GGMB and mac.com.
1:00 pm - meeting with Catalogue team. Can't stay awake, hope I don't look too terrible fighting the sleepiness. Find out that even the graphic artists take phone orders in holiday season.
1:30 pm - "Project Status" meeting (whatever THAT is) that is also every Tuesday. I have no idea what we talked about, spent the time keeping my eyes open.
2:00 pm - scan for Tonya.
2:15 pm - again 'look busy' as I wait for Marie's nonexistent 'work.' This includes refilling water bottle, searching for a history internship for Matt, and reading about the benefits of Mattel. Still resisting Internet addiction to some point.
3:01 pm - get 'client' from Carrie (free work like Sue Chu likes us to do). This could be very, very bad. I am unskilled and unmotivated. Yet I say yes. Shit.
3:05 pm - surprise baby shower for some lady I've never met. She looks ready to pop but is very nice and does not question my partaking in the festivities (including snacks). This is likely because everyone in the department participates. Everyone gives her a gift certificate to which I never contributed. Sad. (At least I lent Alicia two bucks for it last week though.) Talk about the evils of teenagers with Lonna and Alicia though I still myself can be an Evil Daughter when it strikes me so (still working on it).
3:45 pm - rescan photos for Tonya.
4:03 pm - field trip with Amy K to warehouse with her posters. Talk about the internship and what I'm learning despite cutting up foamcore all the time. The warehouse is creepy. Amy K is a very nice person.
4:45 pm - copies for Mary M. Confused about the photocopier's 'name'. It's Ken, I guess it used to be named Stacy.
5:04 pm - punch out.
